BRIEF:

The Roman Camp hotel is one of Scotland's leading country house hotels and enjoys a world wide reputation. We were briefed to provide a new brand identity for the hotel which would reflect high standards and quality (of service), engage with a world wide audience and convey a message of exclusivity and sophistication. The style and character of the hotel needed to be embraced within the new branding.



APPROACH:

Our start point was to review competitive hotels within and beyond the UK and develop an understanding of market positioning, customer profiles and target sector perceptions. We then explored the name and associations and worked through a number of possible directions before drilling down to the chosen letter 'R' in a Roman alphabetic form with a Roman column motif attachment.The letter 'R' sets an understated mood of refinment which works for the hotel and the dining room (which in itself is top league rated) and can be carried onto glassware and linen and fabrics.



OUTCOME:

The re-presentation of the hotel through printed matter and on the web, carying forward the developed branding has been widely acknowledged and has helped to further establish The Roman Camp on the 'special' hotel map in Scotland for UK and overseas visitors. The image of the hotel reflected through the branding is considered to now compliment and match the standard and quality of the hotel.
